Our work

Our work as a collective varies from direct action, to art builds, to grassroots alternatives from colonized ways of healing (see: Autonomy & Resistance). Our collective is based out of (so-called) Salt Lake City, Utah, but our work has taken us all across the United States of Amerikkka, blessing us with the opportunity to connect to many different people, and many different fights, and many different ways of rezistance.

Below are some examples of our ongoing work, to plug in/volunteer, see: TAKE ACTION!

ACTION CAMPS

For the past four years we have been actively resisting the forced planned extraction of tar sands from the Tavaputs Plateau (located on Ute territory in so-called Eastern Utah), via the government approved and funded operations of the company “U.S.Oil Sands”. Our resistance against this project has resulted in ourselves establishing encampments to educate others in this intentional abuse against our Mother Earth and our sources of water, as well as to let people see for themselves what the United Snakes Government is capable of doing in order to continue to profit from indigenous land.

Through our work in the Tavaputs Plateau, we have made connections with alliez and accomplicez from many different nations, who share similar stories of encampment as a way to physically stop land destruction. We are honored and humbled by these connections, and by the lessons that we have learned from them, and by the ongoing legacy of building a community while resisting, in an intentional way that connects us to the land.

WE ARE CURRENTLY PLANNING OUR 2017 CAMP OF REZISTANCE
(SET IN SO-CALLED EASTERN UTAH)

PRESENTATIONS AND WORKSHOPS

We are often presenting workshops and trainings on various subjects, all intersecting with our own autonomous resistance as well as our culture and identity. Depending on the capacity of our trainers, we are able to present on the following subjects, upon request:

  • Non-Violent Direct Action (Introductory and Advanced)
  • Intersectionality and Anti-Oppression
  • Taking Action Against Tar Sands In Utah
  • No Wall, No Ban: Undocumented Solidarity Beyond The System
  • Don’t Talk To Cops: Beyond Calling 911
  • Trans and Queer and Indigenous: Two-Spirit and Non-Binary Liberation
  • Fighting Land Extraction on Stolen Land
  • Snakes In The Grassroots: The NGO Non Profit-Profit Complex
  • Art As A Tool Of Resistance (Can be implemented as an art build opportunity as well)

All of our trainers have 3-5 years of experience in their subject, and have had access to their training in both formal and informal formats. As a collective of people of color, we want to acknowledge that though capitalism is a tool of oppression, solidarity is not. We encourage you to be considerate of our trainers’ time, and to donate accordingly.

ART BUILDS

Because we know that we live in a visual world, part of our work is to implement our own anti-colonial and anti-capitalist praxis in creative ways, while ensuring that our actions are not just seen, but also acknowledged. Depending on the capacity of our trainers, we are able to participate and/or facilitate on the following art building models:

  • Screenprinting
  • Spray Painting
  • Banner Making
  • Puppet Making
  • Stenciling
  • Sign Making

All of our trainers have 3-5 years of experience in their subject, and have had access to their training in both formal and informal formats. As a collective of people of color, we want to acknowledge that though capitalism is a tool of oppression, solidarity is not. We encourage you to be considerate of our trainers’ time, and to donate accordingly.
